Admissions / Check-in The patient's palm scan is captured during the admissions/ check-in process. This non-obtrusive step will immediately identify the patient and match them to their medical record. Its both simple and effortless for staff and patients. ED In the emergency department “John Doe” cases occur when the patient cannot be properly identified. With Palm Indentify, existing patients are instantly identified with a palm scan which results in greater patient care. Trauma Centers can use the palm scanners to identify unconscious or deceased patients. Patient Kiosks In many hospital settings patient kiosks are becoming increasingly more popular. Palm scanners can be integrated into these kiosks providing an easy way for previous patients to check-in. A simple palm scan request by the kiosk computer can accurately ID the patient and start the check-in process at the kiosk. Additionally, new patients can complete admissions through the kiosk and register their palm scan at the end of the process for future use. Medical Employees Palm scanners can also be implemented to provide employee access control. Scanners can be used to give a single sign on to computer systems without passwords. This protects against sharing of passwords and unwanted access. Also IT requirements for passwords to periodically change are not needed and forgotten passwords are a thing of the past.
